The PRAC Releases New Interactive Dashboards

Watch a demo of the new dashboards, that include the latest numbers available from the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, at a virtual roundtable with state and local data transparency experts
06/29/2022

Robert A. Westbrooks, Executive Director of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC), announced updated interactive data dashboards, published today on PandemicOversight.gov.

A demo of the dashboards—which include visualizations of data from the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF), Shuttered Venue Operators Grants (SVOG), and the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF)—will be presented during a virtual roundtable on how local governments are shedding more light on pandemic relief spending in their communities.

Register now for today’s roundtable, 1pm EST.

“The influx of pandemic relief money into our communities was unprecedented, but prior to the release of SLFRF expenditure data in May 2022, transparency into how recipients spent that money fell mainly on state and local governments,” said Mr. Westbrooks. “We’re excited to showcase successful approaches they’ve taken to make spending information available and share our own new dashboards. What we have in common with state and local peers is a commitment to making data accessible and easy for taxpayers to understand.”

The PRAC’s three new dashboards include:

  • State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund: information on the $350 billion that states, local, territory, and Tribal governments received in pandemic relief from the American Rescue Plan Act. The dashboard contains all publicly available data from Treasury to date; quarterly Project and Expenditure reporting data details how the largest governments spent SLFRF funds from March 3, 2021 through December 31, 2021. These large recipients include all states and territories, and cities and counties with populations over 250,000 or awards over $10 million, and Tribal governments with awards over $30 million.
  • Shuttered Venues Operator Grants: data on which movie theaters, museums, concert halls, and entertainment venues received grants to help recover from the financial effects of the pandemic.
  • Restaurant Revitalization Fund: a detailed breakdown of restaurants, bars, and other qualifying businesses that received pandemic relief money.

Our transparency mission

The PRAC is an official government source for comprehensive pandemic relief spending data.

The new dashboards can be accessed on PandemicOversight.gov, along with visualizations of Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) data as well as data from the Paycheck Protection Program and the Provider Relief Fund. While most of our data comes from USASpending.gov, some federal agencies provide more detailed information about the programs they administer than what is required on USASpending.gov. We supplement these datasets with visualizations and data stories to provide additional context. Through a partnership with the Treasury Department’s Office of Inspector General, we receive the Coronavirus Relief Fund dataset. This data is only available on our website.

Quickly access and download new data now and register to join the PRAC’s virtual roundtable, happening today at 1pm EST.
