Today, Michael E. Horowitz, Chair of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC) announced the public release of updated Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) spending by states, eligible local governments, Tribal governments, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories. CRF data is available only on the Coronavirus Relief Fund page on this website and includes all funds spent March 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022.
The CRF was established in March 2020 as part of the CARES Act and made $150 billion in Coronavirus Relief Funds available to states, eligible local governments, Tribal governments, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Territories (these are called “prime recipients”). CRF funds may only be used to cover costs that were incurred during between March 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021.
As of June 30, 2022, 97 percent of the total funds have been spent.
Under the CARES Act, 864 prime recipients received over $150,000 in CRF money, and they are required to report spending details quarterly. The next dataset to be added to this website will be for the period July 1 - September 30, 2022.

The deadline for CRF expenditures to be incurred was December 31, 2021.

The PRAC was established by the CARES Act to promote transparency and support independent oversight of the funds provided by the CARES Act and other related emergency spending bills. In addition to its coordination and oversight responsibilities, the PRAC is tasked with supporting efforts to “prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement [and] mitigate major risks that cut across program and agency boundaries.”
