Provider Relief Fund Data Now Available on PandemicOversight.gov

06/03/2021

Today, Michael E. Horowitz, Chair of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, (PRAC) announced the release of Provider Relief Fund (PRF) data. The PRF data shows payments to health care providers adversely affected by the pandemic and previously was available only on the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) website.

About the Provider Relief Fund

Funding from the PRF went to qualified hospitals and health care providers for expenses or lost revenue due to the pandemic. Congress has allocated $186.5 billion to the PRF through the CARES Act and related pandemic relief legislation.

Of the $186.5 billion allocated, $117 billion (63%) has been spent. Healthcare providers in 60 states and U.S. territories have received 412,000 payments.

Reporting

The PRF data is updated weekly and currently includes the name of the provider, city and state of their location, and amount of the award. Although the PRAC has included a link to PRF data on our website since September 2020, existing PRF data will now be incorporated directly into PandemicOversight.gov. This will enable the public to access all pandemic relief spending data in one place.

The PRAC receives the data directly from HHS, and we post it to our website without alteration. For questions and details on the PRF data, visit the HHS website and read the Frequently Asked Questions

###

The PRAC was established by the CARES Act to promote transparency and support independent oversight of the funds provided by the CARES Act and other related emergency spending bills. In addition to its coordination and oversight responsibilities, the PRAC is tasked with supporting efforts to “prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement [and] mitigate major risks that cut across program and agency boundaries.”
