OSA has conducted a performance audit of MassHealth’s payments for telehealth behavioral health services for the period January 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. During this period, MassHealth paid approximately $96,464,816, for 1,306,414 claims, to its providers for telehealth behavioral health services to MassHealth members. The purpose of this audit was to determine whether MassHealth monitored telehealth practices for behavioral health services to ensure compliance with its All-Provider Bulletins.

Since March 2020, early in the COVID-19 pandemic, and through September 2022, the federal government has allocated through various acts $77.8 billion to the State of Arizona and its local governments, businesses, and individuals for COVID-19 response and relief efforts. Jacksonville, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that Jacob Deandre Byrd (20, Lake City) has pleaded guilty to wire fraud involving COVID Relief Fraud through the Paycheck Protection Program. Byrd faces up to 20 years in federal prison and payment of restitution to the United States government. Byrd has agreed to forfeit $20,833, representing the proceeds of the offense.

A downtown Los Angeles man was found guilty today by a jury of federal criminal charges for fraudulently obtaining more than $150,000 – and attempted to obtain an additional $1.85 million – in COVID-relief loans for several companies he claimed to own and operate.
